Benefits of Having a TIN Certificate in Bangladesh

You will automatically be enrolled as a taxpayer once you get a TIN, which is the primary advantage of having one. Then you will be required to pay taxes on your income up to the threshold set by the government. These funds will be used to administer the nation. Once upon a time, when things like income tax and value-added tax were not there, the government would collect revenue from the land instead. But today, with the huge population with individuals having such a wide range of incomes, the government is forced to collect money in the form of income taxes in order to operate the country.

You may feel proud of your status as a taxpayer after you have obtained an e-TIN number. If you have a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), the banks will deduct 10% of the value of your savings as tax. If this is not the case, a 15% reduction will be applied. For example, let’s say you win a contest and the prize money is deposited into your bank account. If this happens, taxpayers who have a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) will be eligible for a 10% tax deduction, while those who do not have a TIN would have 15% of their winnings taxed. Although you do not need an e-TIN certificate to open a bank account, you will need TIN in order to take out a loan from the banks. At various points in time, the government makes accessible to certain professions or small business owners a variety of perks and incentives; however, access to any of these options is impossible without a TIN.

How to Retrieve a Lost TIN Certificate?

In the event that you misplace your TIN certificate, you can retrieve it online by entering your user ID and password. Given how seldom we use the portal, it is reasonable to assume that you, like the rest of us, have forgotten both your ID and password. Don’t worry; you’ll be able to retrieve them as well.

  1. STEP 1: Go to https://www.incometax.gov.bd/TIN Home and click on the “Forgot Password” link in order to retrieve either your user ID or your password.
  2. STEP 2: The next step is to choose the options titled “I Forgot My User Name” and “I Forgot My Password.”
  3. STEP 3: On the next page, you will be asked to give the mobile phone number that was used during the TIN certificate registration process.
  4. STEP 4: After then, the security question that you selected at registration will be shown to you for an answer. If your response is right, an SMS with a four-digit number will be sent to your mobile device.
  5. STEP 5: Enter the code, and your cellphone number will be verified. In the next step, input the four-digit code that you were given on your mobile device, and then re-enter your mobile number before clicking the “Submit” button.
  6. STEP 6: As soon as it is submitted, the user ID associated with your TIN account will be displayed to you.
  7. STEP 7: To retrieve the password, go back to the Forgot Password menu and pick the option labeled “Forgot My Password.”
  8. STEP 8: After that, click the box labeled “Next.” After you have typed the Verification Letters and the User ID that you discovered in the previous stage, click the Next button.
  9. STEP 9: You will be given a four-digit verification code through text message on your mobile phone.
  10. STEP 10: Followed by clicking the Recover My Account button, enter the verification code. Following that, you will be sent to a screen where you may alter the password. Please enter a new password here, one that consists of at least four letters and/or numbers.
  11. STEP 11: In many situations, individuals will register for a TIN via the assistance of a third party.
  12. STEP 12: As a consequence of this, it is possible that they registered their TIN with their cell phone number. In this scenario, you may get in touch with that individual and request his assistance.
  13. STEP 13: You may also contact the hotline of the NBR and advise them about your difficulty and know the username of the e-TIN website.
  14. STEP 14: This can be done by calling in. The helpline number for the NBR is 09611-777111 or 333.
  15. STEP 15: If this is also not feasible, you will need to contact the tax office with a copy of your National Identity Card and a photocopy of your Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), if you have it.
